Ich hab auch schon irgendwo gelesen, dass „Epitaph One“ vielleicht als Staffelpilot dienen soll!

I’ve been busy working on a movie in Canada and just sort of let it happen. I know everybody has been on tenderhooks, but I go to a very Zen place during times like this because what are you gonna do? I sort of assumed they were going to tell me I wasn’t going to do more. It looked pretty grim there. I prepped myself so well that when I heard I felt more like Zero Mostel in “The Producers” than anyone else -- “What?!”
How much was making that 13th episode on a shoestring budget part of the renewal?
We had talked about shooting on digital, shooting faster. We still want to make some classical looking “Dollhouse” pieces, but I think there’s ways to do that faster and cheaper and of course Fox had some other ways to make things cheaper -- but not exactly like Episode 13, which had a very specific, hand-held monochromatic look to it. I like that kind of challenge. As a producer I’ve never had enough money to put my shows on and I make them look as good as they could be. So it doesn’t frighten me. It will give us a nice energy.
Some fans will wonder, “Will we notice not as much money is going into the show?”
My hope is “No.” In the fifth year of “Angel” we cut our budget significantly, yet we built a completely new set, we had an episode set on a submarine in the ‘40s. Nobody felt like it was a cut back. Ultimately if the stories aren’t involving and somebody is going, [snobbish voice] “This doesn’t look as expensive as the last episode,” then the person has strange priorities.
You pitched season two as being more like the last few episodes of the season, can you talk about that?
The last few episodes we got to play "the man behind the curtain" a lot. We did less of, “And this week, she’s a neurosurgeon!” Which we’ll still do to an extent, it’s part of the fun. But we got into what makes the place tick, what makes it wrong. It was less, “Murder She Was Imprinted to Write.” The episodes were more satisfying and the network responded to that. And we also responded to their ideas about pacing and it being more of a thriller and a conspiracy so they were seeing what they were hoping for when we got the aspect we were looking for.
Isn’t that a little ironic though since Fox's initial desire was to be very episodic an stand-alone?
Mm-hmm. Every studio or network will always ask for more episodic because episodes rerun better. But some shows are not built that way. This one seemed like it was more than it actually was.
And given the flash forward of the 13th episode, how will that influence on how second season picks up?
Spoiler anzeigen / verbergenMy feeling is we will be paying that off around the – the flash-forward in the 13th episode took place long after where we are right now. So we can be moving toward some of those events which are unexplained. We have a few years where we can do anything we want before it would be weird if we didn’t start paying them off.
They’re returning "Dollhouse" to Fridays, lead in is the sitcom “Til Death.” We you hoping for a different time period? Do you think the show can still pop?
We’ve never had much luck with our lead ins. Obviously the “Til Death”/”Dollhouse” conflux has a huge fanbase. [dryly] There’s a lot of cross over between “Til Death” and “Dollhouse.” It couldn’t be a more perfect match, really.

Jetz reichts aber wirklich! Es gibt auch genug Leute die sich NICHT über ne Absetzung von Terminator S.C.C. freuen. Ich freu mich kein Stück
Warum muss man sich eigentlich als Dollhouse-Gücker freuen wenn ne andere Serie abgesetzt wird? Das versteh ich nämlich jetz wirklich überhaupt ned, die beiden Serien könnten genausogut nebeneinander existieren. Ich hab zwar noch keine Folge Dollhouse geschaut und kann die Serie daher ned beurteilen (Deutschland-Gucker), aber wenns blöd läuft kann die Rettung auch nur vorläufig sein und am Ende verschwinden dank FOX beide Serien im Nirvana...
Wünsch ich mir nicht, weil wenns von Joss is und Eliza Dushku mitspielt kanns eigentlich nur gut sein.
Aber die Quoten sollen ja angeblich leider auch ned berauschend gewesen sein

Der zu Omega ist fertig und kommt heute noch online. Briar Rose ist eine Tonspur defekt, muss neu aufgenommen werden, kommt dann Do oder Fr (also die Aufnahme).
Und nachher nehmen wir dann den Renewal Cast auf.

Du bist nicht auf S2 Stand von TSCC, deswegen kann ich da an dieser Stelle keine genaue Begründung geben. IMHO war die Storyline von S2 bis auf die letzten Episoden aber uninteressant, vor allem im Vergleich zur Story von Dollhouse. Dazu stand die Absetzung von TSCC schon länger fest und Summer ist nun einmal ein Teil der Whedon Serienfamilie und da sie durch die Absetzung wieder frei ist, freut man sich einfach über die Möglichkeit, dass sie mitspielen könnte. Ebenso wäre es bei einer Absetzung von Castle mit Nathan Fillion gewesen oder bei Chuck mit Adam Baldwin. Nur um mal ein paar weitere zu nennen.

@Komo, Harry und Mogry,
ja ok, in dieser Sache hab ich vielleicht überreagiert. In letzter Zeit läuft bei mir auch im RL einiges schief, da bin ich noch gereizter als sonst im Moment. Tut mir leid!
Es kam so rüber als wenn ihr euch drüber freuen würdet, so hab ich es jedenfalls gedeutet. Ich finds halt schade drum, auch wenn ich die 2. Staffel noch ned kenn
Von anderen hab ich jedenfalls gehört dass die 2. Staffel vor allem gegen Ende hin echt ned schlecht sein soll und wenns ned weitergeht leider einiges offen bleibt. Cliffhanger vermutlich? Hab mich halt so bisschen informiert, aber direkt spoilern wollt ich mich jetz auch wieder ned.
Nochmal zu Dollhouse:
Glaubt ihr dass die 2. Staffel die Quoten wieder hoch genug bringen kann, dass ne Absetzung auch weiterhin über etwas längere Zeit verhindert werden kann? Die Rettung war ja wie ich gelesen hab fast schon ein Wunder. Das fände ich auch schade, wie gesagt hab ich noch nix von der Serie gesehen, aber es hört sich interessant an und wär echt unschön wenn das später trotzdem noch FOX zum Opfer fällt

Ich hoffe ihr bekommt bald eure eigene Site. Auf jeden Fall ist es allerhöchstens Zeit für einen RA-Thread.
Das mit dem „neu aufnehmen“ ist ja ärgerlich… war ja schon das gleiche bei der Pilotfolge.

dass du dich ärgerst und traurig um TSCC, kann ich gut nachvollziehen. Vor allem, wen die Serie wirklich mit einem Cliffhanger endet und die Macher nicht die Möglichkeit hatten ein würdiges Finale zu schreiben.
Zu DH: Ich denke, dass der Freitag der Serie letztendlich zum Verhängnis werden könnte. Die Quoten werden sich wahrscheinlich nicht großartig ändern. Vielleicht haben DVD-Verkäufe Einfluss auf eine evtl. dritte Staffel und die Tatsache, dass Dollhouse von 20th Century Fox produziert wird.

Also wir können halt gerne noch mal darüber diskutieren, wenn du S2 gesehen hast. Bis dahin will ich dir die IMHO wenigen guten Dinge nicht vorweg nehmen. Und freut mich, dass das Missverständnis geklärt wurde. Die Freude bezog sich halt echt mehr auf die Möglichkeit und nicht über den Verlust einer Serie.
Alles weitere zu TSCC hat Norb ja schon erklärt.
Also Dollhouse S2 hat nun erst einmal 13 Episoden, mehr weiß man nicht. Theorien dazu dann im nächsten RadioActive, der im Laufe der Woche online sein sollte.

Fain & Craft haben Dollhouse leider vollständig verlassen, was schade für Dollhouse, aber imo toll für die beiden ist. Sie haben mit Lie to Me nun Shawn Ryan als Boss, mit dem sie schon bei The Shield zusammengearbeitet haben. Michele Fazekas & Tara Butters, die Macher von Reaper, sind nun statt Craft & Fain an Bord.
